Social Circle Sandlot Inc. (SCSI) has been on a continuous journey to empower children through education. Each trip, each event, and every interaction has contributed to building a brighter future for the youth in Social Circle, GA, and beyond.
Summer Literacy Boost - July 2023
In July 2023, SCSI launched its inaugural Summer Literacy Boost program, targeting elementary school children who were identified as needing extra support in reading. Over three weeks, volunteers worked one-on-one and in small groups, utilizing engaging activities and personalized learning plans. The program culminated in a community reading day, where children proudly showcased their improved skills.
STEM Exploration Camp - October 2023
During the fall of 2023, SCSI hosted a dynamic STEM Exploration Camp for middle school students. The camp aimed to ignite interest in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics through hands-on experiments, coding workshops, and visits from local professionals in STEM fields. Students built their own robots, designed simple apps, and conducted exciting chemistry experiments.
Winter Warmth & Learning Drive - December 2023
As winter approached in December 2023, SCSI organized the Winter Warmth & Learning Drive. This initiative focused on providing warm clothing, blankets, and educational toys to families in need during the holiday season. Volunteers collected donations, organized distribution events, and spent time engaging with families, understanding their needs, and offering support.
Spring into Action: Community Garden Project - April 2024
In April 2024, SCSI initiated a community garden project, transforming an unused plot of land into a vibrant learning space. Children, volunteers, and community members worked together to plant and cultivate vegetables, herbs, and flowers. This project served as an outdoor classroom, teaching children about botany, sustainable living, and teamwork.
Back-to-School Backpack Drive - August 2024
Ahead of the 2024-2025 academic year, SCSI organized its annual Back-to-School Backpack Drive. Thousands of backpacks filled with essential school supplies were distributed to students across Social Circle. This effort significantly eased the financial burden on many families and ensured that every child started the school year prepared and confident.
